This Privacy Policy describes how Backchannel (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
Account Information — When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials via Google Firebase Authentication.
Content You Create — Topic configurations, prompts, and report style preferences you define within the app.
Generated Briefs — Research briefs generated on your behalf are stored in your personal Firestore collection and are not accessible to other users.
Usage Data — Basic app usage information such as brief generation history and playback progress.
How We Use Your Information
- To generate personalized research briefs using Anthropic’s Claude API
- To deliver briefs on your configured schedule
- To sync your data across devices
- To process subscription payments via RevenueCat
Your content is never used to train AI models. Content sent to the Claude API is subject to Anthropic’s usage policies, which prohibit using API content for model training.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore within your personal user collection. All data is encrypted in transit via TLS/HTTPS. Access is restricted to your authenticated account only.
Data Deletion
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time via Settings → Delete Account in the app, or by submitting a request at backchannelinfo.com/delete-account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Children’s Privacy
Backchannel is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email.
